Friday 28th Feb — Cancellation of workshop
This Friday's session on 28th Feb, was to be a workshop/demonstration by Alex Grey, a local abstract artist working with Oil Pastels. She has unfortunately had to cancel this workshop at short notice. We will try and get her back later in the year. We can still keep to the subject this week so please bring your oil pastels (if you have them). Alex Grey's website is www.alexgrey.co.uk if you want to have a look at her work.
I recently bought a couple of art books by Claire Watson Garcia (an American) which I am finding very useful. The titles are 'Painting for the absolute and utter beginner' and 'Drawing for the absolute and utter beginner' Both books have very helpful, but the author has also garnered some very illuminating comments by renowned artists which I thought I might share with you from time to time......
"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place, from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web" Pablo Picasso
Also a reminder that there will be a new exhibition at The Crypt 1-6th March (10-4.30) Art a-poppin. The first of the Pop-up shows this year.
See you Friday 28th
