This weekend I attended a workshop (along with Daryl) at Catalyst arts in Eastbourne on Lino cutting and printing. Great fun and good teaching made for a really useful meeting. I have to admit my frog picture wasn’t perfect but Daryl’s test piece was a joy to behold! Lino cutting certainly benefits from her neatness and attention to detail – I must try harder.
Turner at Petworth
All the seats and tickets for our trip to Petworth for the Turner exhibition are now sold, so sorry no spares – perhaps if it’s a good show others could visit later in the month, either making their own way or if enough people want to go we can arrange a coach again. (Don’t forget though tickets have to be bought in advance – there are no ticket sales at the door.)
Try potato printing
Next Friday’s session is entitled ‘Try potato printing’. I thought we might try printing on a continuous sheet of paper, which we could then exhibit at the next Annual Show. Don’t worry about it having to be a ‘potato’ print – you could try printing with lots of different vegetable - red cabbage, carrots, swede, peppers even Brussels sprouts!! You could also of course use lino or rubbers (erasures) to make small stamps. Try and bring sharp knives to cut with (and plasters for accidents) as well as paints – these could be poster paints, acrylic or goache. I’ll bring with me my lino cutters as well as rollers & paints to try. As we don’t have a newspaper anymore (rely on the BBC TV/ news) if you can bring some with you it would be helpful. (Don’t want a mess on the tables do we?)
This is meant to be a fun session so do come and enjoy yourselves with this activity.
Don't forget to come for a coffee at the Seaford sailing Club Monday from 10am.
‘missed’ the post-Christmas ‘do’?
Several people have recently asked if they have ‘missed’ the post-Christmas ‘do’. No you haven’t. The date for the ‘Spring Lunch’ is March 6th 2015. We are just finalising the fine details and then forms will be handed out for you to make your menu choice and indicate the number of places you will require. Member’s partners and family very welcome.
