At the start of our meeting last week one of our members, Peter Knight, gave a short talk about Naive painting. This is an interesting and thought provoking subject and one in which is it difficult to distinguish clearly between naive art (as produced by children and inexperienced artists) and Naive Art as a style which can be replicated by anyone who chooses to have a go. As with all styles and schools of art, there is a blurred line between what does and does not fall into this category, but Peter showed us some examples of his own work (two drawings are shown below) which he describes as Naive and Jeremy also brought along some print outs of well know Naive artists work for us to compare. Our thanks to Peter for sharing his knowledge.
If you feel you would like or able to give a half hour talk sometime – your techniques, passions (within reason) or favourite artist, do let Anne know.
