Last week’s bring and buy seemed to go down well, it certainly got things buzzing, thanks to those who bought in their surplus art materials. We must do it again sometime. Attendance was high which made it a bit cramped but it was nice to see a couple of grandchildren enjoying the chance to paint as well – and weren’t they well behaved too.
Paint from someone else’s sketch or idea
This week’s subject is ‘Paint from someone else’s sketch or idea’, I don’t remember trying this before but it could be fun. Bring a simple sketch or idea and we’ll have a swap round to see if we can turn them into paintings from limited reference.
New display up in the Golf Club
The new display is now up in the Golf Club, so do go and have a look. Thank you to the exhibitors for bringing in their work (and paying their handing fees). We will leave them (unless sold) in place until the end of November and I’ll be looking for new work to be brought in to club on 27th November. So do start thinking about your exhibits in good time. If you want a reminder of the guidelines, I can send them to you by email.
In my eagerness to sell a picture last month I made a grave error which I will not repeat. I reduced the price without gaining the approval from the artist. I can only apologise profusely and assure all exhibitors that I will not do this again. Should an offer be made I will always contact the artist before accepting it. (Perhaps you can blame it on my years in retail when any sale was better than none – old habits die hard.)
On a very personal note, I know I can say and do things which don’t always come out right, I can only apologise and beg you to remember that I do things always with the best of intensions. ‘Mea culpa’
See you Friday, Anne
