I must admit I’ve shared my last few days between the garden and my art studio – I’ve actually started a painting in oils and finished a landscape in pastels. Long time since I got the pastels out and it reminded me how much I like them. Reviewing at my stock of colours I certainly don’t think I need to buy anymore, so no shopping trips for me then.
This week’s theme (28th April) is a much requested subject – GRAFFITTI – but, please, don’t draw on the walls of the Downs Leisure Centre! Any medium, any subject but let’s see some graffiti on your chosen support.
Last week’s chat about colour mixing was, I think, useful – thanks Jeremy & Linda for their input. If you want a book similar to those we had on show, Amazon and offering a good range of colour mixing ‘bibles’ split into different subjects, eg portraits, landscapes etc. always a bit cheaper than buying from an art store.
Guide to colour mixing
Tom Cunliffe put up a very useful link on our Face book page, to Jane Blundell’s site https://janeblundellart.blogspot.co.uk/ full of colours for watercolours. This sort of link is exactly what our Face book page is for – if you haven’t signed up to it yet please do as we need more links and comments & questions from our members to make this site useful.
Here are some dates to remember:
May 1st at 12 noon -- the ‘launch’ of the Shoal seating at Splash Point. Do come along and join in the celebrations. Our own plaque will be on show for all to see.
Coffee Morning on 8th May (as the 1st Monday is a Bank Holiday) at the Seaford Head Golf Club. As I will not be around that day we may decide to leave your paintings there on show for another month – I’ll let you know as soon as we decide.
Sponsorship for new gallery hangers
On behalf of the club I have sent £60 to The Crypt in sponsorship of the new hangers, we’ll now continue with the Golf Club hanging donations and decide in the future which charity should receive the money.
Summer sketching trips
I’m just starting to put together our summer programme of outdoor sketching trips, if you want to join in from the start of July, do please let me know and I’ll make sure you get a copy of the venues. The weekly meeting at the Downs will of course continue for the summer months.
