We were blessed last week for our visit to Gillian Weaver’s garden in Newhaven. Last year when we visited 4 of us survived the rain – just. This year 13 enjoyed the garden, the tea and the glorious weather. The garden is truly magical with odd bits of stone and metal carefully placed to make them seem as if they’ve always been there – I especially liked the old carousel horse which was dragged up in a fisherman’s net and has found the perfect stable in Gillian’s garden.
I can’t even begin to think how much time and effort has gone into making this garden a must for garden lovers. I look forward to seeing the results of your artistic labour later in the year.
Thanks everyone who contributed to the collection we made for Gillian in aid of Macmillan Cancer support. We raised over £20.
This Friday back at the Downs
This week (the 8th August) we’ll be back at the Downs LC for our normal indoor session where you can ‘do your own thing’.
Seaford Horticultural Show
Don’t forget if you are entering the Seaford Horticultural Main Show, handing in is on Friday 8th between 7 and 9pm and Saturday 9th August between 8 and 10.15am. Venue: Seaford Head School, Arundel Road.
Please note: unsold pictures should be picked up after 4.00pm on Saturday 9th. (Any queries contact Marion Freelove on 01323 892762).
Informal visits to Artwave locations
At the end of August, Lewes Artwave will be getting underway. I was wondering if anyone is interested in making an informal visit to Lewes to see some of the exhibits.
The Sussex Watercolour Society is showing at the Foundary Gallery and there is a show on at Hop Gallery. There will also be many other places to visit (or do a little sketching) in Lewes. I think probably the best day to go would be Saturday 30th August, if anyone interested, we could meet up in Lewes and take a wander together. I’m sure we could arrange lifts as well for those who need it.
Let me know what you think... Anne
