Loosen up this week
This coming week (Friday 16th Oct) we’re planning a discussion time for the first hour or so, titled – ‘Loosen Up’ followed by an opportunity to try a looser style. Do join in - it could be fun.
Last week lots of you tried a ‘new’ medium and found something to interest you. Good to see so many opening their minds to alternative mediums.
Bring and buy
As mentioned before we are going to have a BRING AND BUY session at the club (for art goodies ONLY). We’ll organise this for October 30th so have a sort through your materials etc and bring them along for sale. You can either keep the money you make for yourself or put it into club funds or even give it to a chosen charity – whatever you wish. Put this date in your diaries Friday October 30th – Bring and Buy sale.
Learn to paint
I read an interesting article on the BBC website the other day, written by Lachlan Goudie, ‘Can anyone learn to paint?’ Below are a couple of quotes I thought worth passing on:
‘Being able to paint or draw is one of life’s pleasures. However often only those who believe they are artistic actually pursue this as a pastime. The British artist Damien Hirst once said, “That's the great thing about art. Anybody can do it if you just believe. With practice you can make great paintings."’
‘If we do pursue art we often set ourselves unrealistic goals. Attempting paintings that are beyond our skills levels convinces us that we have no talent and we give up.’
If you would like to read the article go to BBC iWonder and search for Can anyone learn to paint.
See you Frida.
Anne (please note I haven’t mentioned the weather – yet!)
