Like many, I find portraits challenging. But I escaped any fear of failure the first hour as I was press ganged by Anne into modelling (my wife could not possibly believe this, but I managed to sit for a whole hour without fidgeting or talking!).
So I sat as still as I could (which is not as easy as it looks), very aware of being examined in detail by those around me. I couldn't wait to see my portrait. Looking at the results an hour later gave me a sharp reality check. I looked like (see picture) an advert for Les Misérables!
Thanks to Peter Baker for also standing in as a model for the first hour, and to Emma (pictured in the previous blog below) who made every effort to arrive asap from other work to model for the last hour, and also show me how not to sit and look miserable.
