Our coffee morning yesterday dawned dull and wet – what a change from the last couple of weeks. So I’m afraid only the brave ventured to the golf club on Monday morning. Perhaps our low numbers were a benefit as the club was packed with lady golfers about to set off for a match. They do make a pretty picture in their pink or blue jumpers, somehow, with long shorts, it’s become a uniform for the ladies (for the men it seems to be the dark jumpers with light slacks) all prodding up the hill outside in the drizzle. I didn’t envy them it was nice and dry and warm in the club house.
Our informal exhibition was good looking at much of the work done over the summer period – I’m sorry the table layout didn’t help the display as my email to the Downs hadn’t been picked up. Never mind we’ll try and do it again but perhaps not quite so informally.
Try out a different medium
This week (the 9th) we’re going to ‘try out a different medium’. I’ll bring a selection of different paints, pastels, pencils etc. with paper so you can try something different – do have a go, you may be surprised! If you have any medium you’ve bought and still not tried out (like me) bring it along and have a go – there is sure to be someone there who can help if you want advice.
Ideas required for our programme
Very shortly we have a committee meeting to plan, amongst other things, our programme for next year. If you have any requests for a subject or an outing do let me know.
Exhibition is due to change
The Golf Club exhibition is due to change in the next few weeks so be prepared to submit entries. There will be some new guidelines issued soon and we are to have a smaller space to exhibit, but it is still a great opportunity for the club to show off its work. Paddy has successfully sold her painting (the swimmers) this month so sales are still happening!
2016 Club exhibition to coincide with Artwave
A date for your diary for next year. The Crypt has been booked for our annual exhibition to coincide with Artwave. The dates booked are August 26th to September 1st 2016. I know some people will be on holiday but this will give us a great opportunity to show to a wider audience as we shall be advertised in the Artwave guide.
