Your votes for this month's prize went to Sheila Pamphilon with her fishing boat and floats (see photo). For the voting, the simple idea of stones in a mug seems to work well. So far we have had clear winners so no second deciding vote has been required. The March challenge subject is ‘Movement’.
Remember, our annual lunch is this Friday (12am for 1pm) at The View Restaurant, Seaford Head Golf Club. Our room at the 'Downs' will not be available.
New Art supplier in Brighton
Some good news for those who might like to get their 'hands on' and have a good look at some art materials rather than just ordering online. Cass Art who have I believe only had shops in London have just opened one at 21 Market Street Brighton. I haven't been there yet, but if they are like their shops in London, you will find they offer a wide range of materials, combined with good advice and at very competitive prices. Have a look at their web page. at Cass Art Brighton.
Diep—haven Call for portrait artists
The artist Julia Gorostidi is looking for portrait artists (or anyone who would feel comfortable with life drawing) to take part in a project that will be shown this summer at the Diep-Haven Festival. The project, temporarily called "Cross Pointings", is an extension of one of Julia's long term projects that explores the way individuals perceive others and each other. The idea is to create collaborative portraits made by people who never met but share a common natural boundary and a common subject of representation. Julia is looking to find people from Newhaven who would accept to share a canvas with an artist from Dieppe and realize a portrait where both artists would draw one side of Julia's face (left-right).
If you are interested in taking part in the project or if you want to know more about it, please contact Julia via email: email@example.com
