And boy, is that some process! Before she starts a work, Dilys makes many sketches from life and numerous roughs in watercolour and inks. She then selects sections of the designs to work up as original artworks using a wide range of materials and processes.
The passion and attention to detail she shows for her work, as a mere man left me open mouthed in awe. The mention of scraps of material, brown paper and envelops, food mixers, boiling up 'stuff' in frying pans and the use of strange glues, embroidery, hand stitching etc, together seemed magical, like something out of Harry Potter.
Take a look at the pictures below (click on them and you can view them larger) and if you missed her talk, I think you will agree, all this effort results in exquisite abstract and semi pictorial works full of fascinating detail.
