Ightham Mote trip
Our trip to Ightham Mote was a great success. Well done to Nina and Jan for organising it so well and for making sure we went on a beautiful day as well. What a lovely place to visit, not too many people, wonderfully kept house and gardens, what more could you ask for? Oh yes, the food in the restaurant was great as well – and not over crowded – September appears to be a good time to visit. There looked to be some good sketching going on but I think most of us were really just enjoying the place and the weather. Perhaps we could visit Chartwell next time?
Birling Gap is the location for this Friday
This Friday, weather permitting, we shall be going to Birling Gap, for 2pm. (If not we have the Downs LC open as usual) Remember Birling Gap is National Trust so bring your entry cards for the car park or you’ll have to pay. I’m sure you all know this spot on our wonderful coastline and you can make use of the scenery for sketching and paintings. (Oh yes, the teashop is good there too!) No set meeting place but I’m sure we’ll see each other during the afternoon.
As next week’s meeting on the 7th October is the first indoor session of the autumn. Do bring your work along that you have been doing during the summer for our ‘informal’ exhibition. It is also judging day for our Summer Challenge, the subject in case you’ve forgotten is ‘ABSTRACT’ Your interpretation. A prize for the most voted for entry.
Pictures for the Golf Club (and Foneshop) can be brought in as well. Please make sure these are correctly framed and finished.
As there will be a lot (I hope) of pictures on show, This will have to be more of a casual meeting with time to chat to people you haven’t seen during the summer. It would be good to hear any ideas you have for next year’s programme as well – all suggestions considered.
Next COFFEE MORNING – is on Monday 3rd October. As usual at Seaford Head Golf Club from 10-12- all members and non- members welcome.
